Hit and Run

Submitted by Gregg Inman - West Paris, Maine

This past summer on a hot day, Fred Sessions of East Centerville was coming out of his barn around 11 o'clock in the morning. He had just finished up his morning chores when he looked down the road toward the widow Hasting's house. He spotted this white Lincoln Continental with New York license plates coming down the road on its' way to Eastport (it's the only reason I can think of that anyone would be out in that neck of the woods). Just then his prize cow Bessie decided she wanted to be on the other side of the road. Well, before that New York car could stop, he run into her. Fred moseyed on down to see if Bessie was alright. When he got to where the car was, the driver had already gotten out and Bessie had run off. The New Yorker looked at Fred and said, "I guess I didn't hurt her any." Fred replied, "If you think it done her any good  I'd be glad to pay you for it!"
